Blue Horizon started in late 2014 as a technical exercise to understand Unity and its capabilities compared to other game engines.
After months of prototyping it was decided that an openworld first person game should be created with a pirate and Caribbean theme. This unique story would not mirror other games or films of the same genre but be something totally new.
An entire world had to be created from scratch, including nearly all of the coding excluding a few free components from the Asset store. The name of the game was the Directors step-son's idea.
